Woodrow Edward Yancey

SWANSBOBO: Pastor Woodrow Edward Yancey, age 69, died October 14, 2012 in Greenville NC. He was a native of Granville Co. and was the son of the late Woodrow Wilson and Pattie Inscoe Yancey. Pastor Yancey has been preaching since 1967 after graduating from the Southeasterneeminary. He has preached at Dexter Baptist Church in Granville Co., First Coneegational Christian Church ineenderson and Reedy Creek Baptist Church in Warrenton. He was also a member of the Sons of the Confederacy. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Grassy Creek Baptist Church by Rev. Darren Lamberth and Rev. Woodrow Freeze. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Surviving is his wife, Rachel Wheeler Yancey ; daughters, Caryn SalmonRonee of Warrenton, Amelia WintersCameron of Henderson and Johanna Russell of Emerald Isle, NC; son, James LilleyTabitha of Henderson; brother, Joel YanceyDonna of Bullock; nee grandchildren. The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the services at Grassy Creek Baptist Church.
